These include increased psychophysical fatigue, increased temperature, increased heart rate (due to reduced circulating blood volume), glycogen depletion, altered metabolic functions, gastrointestinal disturbances, headaches, cognitive impairments, and even collapse. It's therefore clear that maintaining a good electrolyte balance before, during, and after a performance is crucial.
